What-Ever. Talk to the hand:
But when I asked [teens] whether they kept abreast of things via Twitter, they all looked at me like I was crazy. Rajiv Rao, who's 17, said "I don't know one high schooler that uses Twitter." His friend, Arya Zarifi, also 17, added: "It's something for adults who feel like it makes them hip or something."And yet Ashton Kutcher allegedly has over a million Twitter followers? and they aren't teens?
Apparently not. A study by Ezsther Hargittai and other leading internet use researchers confirms that sorry, Twitter, teens just aren't that into you. Dr. Hargittai suggests that this is related to teens' typical elevated focus on their immediate friends and family, and are less engaged with the broader world at large.
This is interesting in that a). ChatRoulette, where you dial up an anonymous digital friend, is hot hot hot and b). Formspring.me is the 'twenty questions' game, except for a broad public and shared with the world.
And yet are more aware of global issues today than in the past. Huh.

This Pew poll said as much earlier in the year:

Only about 8% of teens use Twitter, which is less than the 18-40 set. Blogging is down too.
However, teens do seem to use Facebook in larger numbers than the adult population. Which reminds me, I need to sign Liam up for an email account.
